Utilizing New Renewable Energy to Support National Defense

AVTEN - To anticipate the energy crisis, Air Force Chief of Staff, Air Chief Marshal TNI Yuyu Sutisna said that it was time for the Indonesian nation to make new innovations by utilizing new renewable energy (NRE). Moreover, this type of energy can be utilized to support national defense.

According to him, NRE is energy that comes from sources that will not run out be used up continuously. This source of energy comes from natural elements in very large quantities.

"New renewable energy in general must be exploited in order to meet the energy needs of the lives of Indonesian people, and support the national industrial energy needs, so that it can support national defense in the era of cyber and internet technology," Yuyu said when opening a National Seminar held by student officers batch 105th of Air Force Unit Command School (Sekkau), Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/30/2019).

He explained, in various parts of the world, NRE has been widely used for military needs. Among them are bio-fuel and off-grid power in the border region, as well as deployable power systems that can be moved to the advance military base.

Yuyu said, new innovations are needed to be a breakthrough in development new renewable energy potential around the region.

Yuyu hopes that the discussion about NRE in this seminar will be deepened so that it can develop and produce a strategy for the policy of utilizing NRE resources to meet the energy source needs for the development of the national defense component.
