AVTEN - The establishment of a special squadron for aerobatic is currently still being studied. Aviator and flight instructor education as well as aerobatic flight activities are still carried out in the 102nd Education Squadron of Adisutjipto Air Base, Yogyakarta and use the same aircraft fleet.

This was stated by the Air Force Chief of Staff, Air Chief Marshal Yuyu Sutisna after directly reviewing the Jupiter Aerobatic Team (The Jupiters) final rehearsal at the Adisutjipto Air Base apron on Tuesday (3/19/2019), before they enliven LIMA Exhibition 2019 at Malaysia next week.

"So far, this squadron has been used (functioned) double. Besides being used for aerobatic team, KT-1B Woong Bee is olso used for instructor schools. So the squadron (aerobatik) is still Skadik 102, "Yuyu explained.

He said, 102nd Education Squadron activities were still running as usual. "But maybe (there are) separate flights (for aerobatics), but if the situation is possible," he said.

"We are still reviewing, adjusted to the situation. Because they still have to teach in instructor schools, (and) aviator schools," he added.

One of consideration that the astablishment of the squad has not yet been carried out due to the number of aircraft owned. At present 102nd Education Squadron has only 12 advanced training aircraft KT-1B. But Yuyu revealed, in the near future this Skadik will receive an additional three new aircraft.

"Then, the plane is also still limited. Later, after the arrival of the three new aircraft, we will more focus again that review (separation of squadrons). Whether to separate one squadron or later in a separate flight,"he concluded.
