avten.asia - On the first day of the Paris Air Show (6/17/2019), AirAsia introduced its newest generation of aircraft, Airbus A330neo to serve long-haul flights. In the Asia Pacific region, AirAsia is the first airline to use the aircraft.

The aircraft will be placed at Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok, Thailand, to support the growth and airline's flight expansion networks plan in the main markets, namely Australia, Japan and South Korea.

During the aircraft launch ceremony, AirAsia X CEO Group, Nadda Buranasiri said, "This moment is very important for the aviation industry, especially for our passengers, because this aircraft will revolutionize the value and market for long-distance air travel."

Buransiri said, the number of direct orders airline for this aircraft type is 68 units, of which 2 were from leasing.

"The presence of the A330neo will increase our flight range to new destinations. Direct flights to Europe and the United States are now possible, "he added.

On the same occasion, Airbus CCO, Christian Scherer said, "Further cruising capabilities (A330neo) will also open up new opportunities for the development of AirAsia X Thailand's long-haul flight network."
